David J. Steele

David John Steele, 69, of Grand Rapids, MI, and formerly of Temperance, MI, died peacefully on January 3, 2019, in Grand Rapids, MI. Born March 28, 1949, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the son of Marsden John and Madelyn Joan (Tanner) Steele. David served proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War. David had an independent spirit and resilient demeanor through many adversities. David was a loved son, brother and uncle and will be missed by many.
David is survived by 8 siblings, Mike Steele, Jane (Larry) Valentine, Paul Steele, Catherine (Patrick) Butler, John (Treonna) Steele, Nancy (Paul) Sprague, Patrick (Donna) Steele, and Daniel (Michele) Steele; sister-in-law, Diane Steele. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tim Steele.
A gathering will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a celebration will follow at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to the Grand Rapid’s Home for Veterans. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
